Abundant Sounds was a small-format jazz magazine published in Philadelphia and issued as a supplement to subscribers of Coda magazine in Toronto. Six issues appear to have been published, one in 1963 (December) and five in 1964 (February, April, July, September, November). Should others be located, they will be included in RIPM Jazz also.
Abundant Sounds was named after a recording studio and record shop of the same name on 4 S. Mole Street in Philadelphia. The three persons at the core of the publication were the record producer Fred Norsworthy (New York), writer and manager Jean French (New York), and record producer and disc jockey Fred Miles (Philadelphia). Much content was Philadelphia-focused or related to activities at the Abundant Sounds studio; issue 3 of 1964 contains a noted interview with Sonny Rollins.
