Blu Jazz

Blu Jazz was founded and directed by Adriano Mazzoletti, critic, radio author, and jazz historian, who was responsible for the first historical overview of Italian jazz (Il Jazz in Italia published by EDT in 3 volumes: 2004, 2010, 2025). An informative magazine on the national and international jazz scene, enriched by an extensive and carefully curated photographic section, Blu Jazz publishes interviews with musicians, in-depth articles on major international jazz festivals and local events, discographies and bibliographies, descriptions and analyses of the great jazz standards for a wide audience of enthusiasts. Each issue of the magazine comes with an accompanying compact disc, often monographic and dedicated to a great name in jazz history such as Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Art Blakey, or to lesser-known groups such as the Junior Dixieland Gang, a Roman band from the 1950s. Anthology recordings (CDs) are dedicated to events or festivals, such as the Paris Jazz Guitar Festival.

The magazine is enriched with interviews with musicians, reports from the most important international festivals, and columns reviewing books, records, and videos. Other contributors include Gerlando Gatto, Giovanni Piccioni, Gianni Gualberto, Alain Tercinet, Anna Maria Pivato, Valerio Corzani, Giampiero Cane, and Livio Cerri.

Blu jazz fu fondata e diretta da Adriano Mazzoletti, critico, autore radiofonico e storico del jazz, cui si deve il primo inquadramento storico del jazz italiano (Il jazz in Italia, EDT, 3 volumi: 2004, 2010, 2025). Rivista informativa e di attualità sul panorama jazzistico nazionale e internazionale, arricchita da un ampio e curato apparato fotografico, Blu jazz pubblica interviste a musicisti, approfondimenti sui grandi festival jazzistici internazionali e sugli eventi locali, discografie e bibliografie, descrizioni e analisi dei grandi standard del jazz ad uso di un ampio pubblico di appassionati. Ogni fascicolo della rivista viene distribuito con un compact disc in allegato, spesso monografico e dedicato a un grande nome della storia del jazz come Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Art Blakey, o a formazioni decisamente meno note, come la Junior Dixieland Gang, formazione romana degli anni Cinquanta. Alcuni, antologici, sono dedicati ad eventi o festival, come il Paris Jazz Guitar Festival.

Il periodico è arricchito da interviste a musicisti, cronache dai più importanti festival internazionali, e rubriche di recensioni di libri, dischi e video.
