Bright Moments was a short-lived, four issue tabloid published by Bill Reese in East Orange, New Jersey. Largely centered around jazz in Newark and the surrounding towns, it documents local music, musicians, and institutions, including Grachan Moncur III, the Rutgers Institute of Jazz Studies, the Vibration Society, and the Newark Community School of the Arts. Writer Amiri Baraka contributed an article in issue 4, “Bourgie $$ for Black Art” calling for greater Black influence in the production and dissemination of Black culture.
