Hollywood Note

Five issues of Hollywood Note were published from March to July 1946. Edited by Dave Dexter, Jr., previously a writer for Down Beat, Music and Rhythm, and editor and contributor to many other jazz and recording periodicals, Hollywood Note combines the profile-focused publicity pieces of contemporaneous recording magazines with a substantial record review column. Dexter’s trademark column, “Dave Dexter’s Surface Noise” introduces each issue, providing news and insider information on the music and recording industry. Other writers included John Hammond, Paul Edward Miller, and George Hoefer.
