Seven monthly issues of Into Jazz were published between February and August 1974. Edited by Ron Brown for the first issue only, and thereafter published and edited by George Clinton, Into Jazz attempted to cover the entire world of jazz in the UK: ragtime and traditional jazz to experimental ensembles, clubs such as Ronnie Scott’s, and those merging jazz with other genres, such as rock n’ roll or traditional music. While the genre span was wide, the emphasis was on current performers and recordings, an attempt to capture the jazz scene largely in and around London. No reason is given for Into Jazz’s cessation, though advertising dried up by the final issue.
