The Jazz Link

Published and edited by Jude Hibler, The Jazz Link sought to connect jazz fans in southern California through reviews, articles, and a near-monthly directory of performances and venues. While Hibler’s preference was for traditional jazz, she included writings on other forms, including bebop, fusion, and the blues. Contributors to the The Jazz Link included Stanley Dance, Helen Oakley Dance, Leonard Feather, Willard Jenkins, Scott Yanow, Patricia Myers, Murray Davison, Joel G. Klauber, Lou Curtiss, Tony Sidotti, in addition to much content by Hibler. In total, 41 issues were published before Hibler was forced to cease publication due to the significant expense of running the publication: she noted a personal investment of some $120,000 over the four years of publication.
