Jazz

The rebirth of Jazz (Forest Hills Station, 1942-1943), this second series of Jazz began with volume 1 number 1 on December 15, 1944. With the same editorial team of Bob Thiele and Dann Priest, only two issues were published, the second appearing one month later. The production quality was improved for these two issues – texts were now more professionally set, many advertisements were for chocolate companies – but the editors seemed to have difficulty in soliciting content to their standards. Of note are contributions by George Avakian on Bud Jacobson, Muriel Reger on the blues, Dale Curran on Art Hodes, Charles Payne Rogers on George Lewis, Bill Gottlieb on Don Anderson, and Roger Pryor Dodge on listener identification.
