Quarter Notes, “A Record Collector’s Guide & Market Place” was sponsored by G&R Enterprises and the Encore Tape Club, an organization “dedicated to the preservation of our musical heritage thru sharing” [Quarter Notes 1, no. 1 (Summer 1962): 2]. Quarter Notes continued publication of the defunct International Discophile and included research articles on early recording artists along with discography and club activities. Jazz and country music were the most discussed genres; an article and discography of Gid Tanner and his Skillet Lickers appears in issue 2.
