Detroit Jazz Monthly

Detroit Jazz Monthly, and its continuation Detroit Jazz, were published and edited by Mitch Genova who sought to provide a forum for information on jazz in Detoit. As he noted in his first editorial, Detroit had a thriving jazz scene but too much relied upon word of mouth. Genova’s publication aimed to connect performers and listeners alike.

Issues consisted of local artist profiles, record and performance reviews, and lists of upcoming performances and jam sessions. Genova notes a resurgence of jazz across the years of publication, with a growth of clubs, restaurants, and venues to hear live jazz.
