Jazz Notes

The house organ of the Indianapolis Jazz Club, Jazz Notes was a typescript publication issued monthly through 1960 and roughly quarterly thereafter. Monthly issues generally range from two to eight pages; later issues were significantly longer. Early issues tend to focus on activities organized by the club, including concerts (especially of the Salty Dogs jazz band, a Dixieland group), polls, and concerts in Chicago and New Orleans. Later issues introduce research articles, concert reviews and correspondence from across the country, and substantial record reviews. Editors Bill and Laura Fend contribute much content, along with Chicago news from Bob Koester. It is unclear when Jazz Notes may have ceased due to the lack of locatable issues. Should additional issues be discovered, these will be added.
