Jazz World

Two issues of Jazz World – March and July 1957 – were published by Chester Whitehorn and Limelight Publications. Each issue contains some 72 pages and a significant amount of content. Although Whitehorn is perhaps better known as a pulp editor and publisher, the two issues of Jazz World include articles on international jazz tours and diplomacy, including an article by Dizzy Gillespie on his tours in Pakistan, India, and Iran; Louis Armstrong’s jazz diplomacy; Benny Goodman on his international tours; and Peter Ilich Musicov on jazz in the Soviet Union. Shorter articles on diverse jazz topics and significant quantities of photography, much by Burt Goldblatt, is found throughout. Bill Gallety reviewed records.
