CRC Newsletter

CRC Newsletter was a quarterly publication of the Collector’s Record Club of Decatur, Georgia. It superseded a newsletter issued by Jazzology and GHB Records, a record company of George H. Buck, devoted to traditional (“authentic,” as described in the preamble to the first issue) jazz. Membership in the Club was given to those who purchased recordings from one of the labels ran by Buck, including Jazzology, GHB, Circle, Southland, Audiophile, and Progressive.

Content of the Newsletter focused on new issues, reissues, and musicians featured on recordings, largely traditional jazz, Dixieland, blues, swing, and hot jazz. Buck provided a regular column, “Buck Box,” in which he discussed records, recording sessions, record collecting, as well as jazz news. Most musicians appearing on the cover were for obituaries, which represents a trove of biographical information on many sidemen and less known musicians.
